FAQs

  • Satin ribbon, stretch ribbon, elastic, flexors, and stitch kits? Yes!

We also have a wide variety of padding, spacers, toe tape, suede platform caps, jet glue, drying inserts, mesh bags, and so much more.

  • Up to an hour. This is because pointe shoes are carefully fitted to the unique features of your foot’s width, height, length, arch, heel, toe shape/length, and other considerations. We have nearly 200 shoes in stock and it can sometimes take a few tries to get the best option.

  • These are FREE services that we are so happy to offer to our wonderful dance community.

  • Hold Harmless Agreement:

You must have teacher approval prior to fitting or purchasing pointe shoes.

Pointe work is not without its risks. When a dancer decides to dance en pointe, they accept all risks inherent to this style of dance. Following the advice of a trained pointe instructor is important in minimizing these risks.

By scheduling a fitting appointment, you agree that the advice you receive from Move It Dancewear, its staff, or pointe shoe fitters is only one input into your decision to purchase and wear the recommended shoe.

The pointe teacher is ultimately responsible for approving the proper fit of the shoes and the correct training of the dancer.

By scheduling a fitting, you agree to hold harmless Move It Dancewear, its staff, or its pointe shoe fitters from any damage or injury resulting from the use of any products.

  • Get. your teacher’s approval BEFORE sewing on ribbons and elastic or wearing your new shoes to class.

Your teacher is ultimately responsible for approving the style and fit of your shoes. If, for any reason, your teacher is not satisfied, you may exchange clean, unworn, un-sewn shoes within 30 DAYS of purchase.

  • Before Your Appointment:

Wash and dry feet; clip toenails.

Wear clothing that is comfortable, but not baggy. If tights are worn, they must be convertible so they can be pulled on/off the feet.

Stretch your feet and ankles gently to avoid strain while on pointe.

  • You should schedule a fitting for your first 4-5 pairs of pointe shoes — or until your feet have stopped growing and you’’re confidently and consistently repurchasing the same shoes.

Meet Your Pointe Shoe Fitters

Our pointe shoe fitters are specialized staff with an extensive background in ballet and fitting training. They select pointe shoes based on their assessment of the a dancer’s technical level, foot anatomy and strength. Their goal is to help dancers achieve optimal performance and prevent injuries, guiding the selection of padding and spacers, and often sharing recommendations for building strength and flexibility.

CAROL, Master Fitter, is back at the fitting barre! She is an exceptionally experienced dancer and our very own Fairy PointeMother. When she owned Encore Dance Supply in Bend, word about her careful, thorough, and engaging fittings quickly spread, and dancers across Oregon and beyond traveled to see her. If you haven’t yet had a fitting with Carol, you are in for a real treat.

NICOLE, Master Fitter, has been dancing in Central Oregon since she was five, and continues to train and teach. As a former dancer with Oregon Theater Ballet, she knows first hand that poorly fitting shoes cause pain and blisters, but a correct fit looks great and feels even better. Her goal is to find the shoes that will best help your feet stay strong and healthy so you can grow as a dancer.

BEA, Pointe Shoe Fitter, is a classically trained ballerina who served as Carol’s apprentice for several years before becoming a fitter. Bea is a natural-born problem solver with a knack for making small adjustments to sizing, padding, spacers, ribbons, or elastics that have big benefits to the fit of a shoe.
